1839  On Wednesday we had the pleasure of a five or six continous miles on a Plank road, leading from Toronto to Kingston, which we understand is to be carried on as far as the Rouge.
1848  Planks roads, it is said, were first made in Russia; and their first trial in America was in Canada, where they were made by Lord Sydenham, who from a long residence in Russia, had become well acquainted with them.
1905  A plank road ran between Trenton and Belleville, a distance of twelve miles.
1965  And in the Queen Charlotte Islands there is nothing left of a 14-mile plank road built more than 40 years ago.
